José Eduardo Derbez confirmed today that his relationship with Paola Dalay has ended. He gave his first media interview on November 1, hours after the couple publicly announced their separation.
The actor, son of Eugenio Derbez, spoke to reporters upon arriving at a theater in Mexico City where he is performing. When asked about the specific cause of the breakup, Derbez attributed it to natural fluctuations in their connection. "There are moments of going up and down in a relationship, and here it happened to go down," he said.
He explained that the couple had been taking distance over recent weeks to see if they could resolve their issues. Although the rumors circulated for some time, they waited to speak publicly until the separation was finalized. "We were obviously taking distance and seeing what could be fixed, but it was clearly not fixed, but we are very well and besides we are very good friends and we get along very well," he assured reporters.
Addressing speculation that a third party may have been involved, Derbez gave a direct answer. "Nothing, there was no infidelity," he stated.
The couple began their relationship in October 2019. They welcomed their daughter, Tessa, on June 30, 2024. Their daughter turned two years old in June of this year.
