Stow police arrested a Cleveland man on Monday morning after he and a group of suspects rammed a Circle K storefront in two stolen minivans.
Officers responded to the store on Steels Corners Road at approximately 3:30 a.m. to report of a robbery in progress. Investigators say the suspects drove one minivan into the front of the building, shattering the glass entrance and knocking an ATM loose from its mount. Several individuals exited the vehicles and approached the store, prompting the clerk to fire multiple shots.
The suspects fled the scene after the gunfire. Bullets struck a gas pump, one of the minivans, and a canopy support post. Police do not know if any of the remaining suspects were injured.
Officers located one suspect running west on foot near the intersection of Steels Corners Road and Wyoga Lake Boulevard in Cuyahoga Falls. They arrested 25-year-old Peirion D. Jackson of Cleveland. Jackson is currently on parole for a prior robbery conviction. Stow Municipal Court set his bond at $100,000 cash. He faces charges of second-degree felony robbery, fourth-degree felony receiving stolen property, and fourth-degree felony vandalism. He is being held at the Summit County Jail.
Police are seeking at least three other suspects who fled in a second vehicle, a brown 1997 Chrysler Town & Country. The minivan has a plastic-covered rear window and Ohio plate GSR7033. The vehicle was stolen from Cleveland and was last seen heading west on Steels Corners Road toward State Route 8.
