Javyonne Stewart pleaded guilty Wednesday in Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas. He is the third person charged in the 2021 shooting death of Maurco Toler, a 13-year-old resident of Euclid.
Stewart's jury trial started Tuesday. He entered his plea the following day. He accepted one count of involuntary manslaughter, one count of improperly discharging a firearm into a habitation, and one count of tampering with evidence.
The court set his sentencing for Nov. 12.
Members of the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Stewart on Dec. 22, 2025. They found him at a home in the 10500 block of Olivet Ave. in Cleveland.
Toler was shot around 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 11, 2021. He was standing in the front yard of a home in the 257000 block of Zeman Ave. Euclid police said bullets fired from a black Ford Escape struck him.
Two other men have already been punished for the killing. Duane Tra’Ron Jackson was arrested at Benedictine High School on Jan. 12, 2022. Leroy Billips turned himself in on June 22, 2022. A jury found both men guilty of murder and related charges in November 2023. Each received a life sentence.
