At least six people died and dozens were injured in a series of shootings across the United States during the Halloween weekend.

The violence unfolded in nightlife districts, a college football stadium, and retail stores in six different cities between Friday and Sunday. Dallas recorded the highest death toll, with four fatalities in the Deep Ellum neighborhood.

Dallas police Chief Daniel Comeaux stated that three separate shootings occurred over a period of about 75 minutes on Saturday night. Investigators are determining if the incidents are connected. The department increased its presence in the district before the first shots were fired, and no officers were injured.

Comeaux described the scene as large and dispersed. He said officials were interviewing arrestees to understand how the events related. The police department made several arrests but did not specify the number of detainees or the charges filed immediately.

In Birmingham, Alabama, a man died and eight others were shot outside Legion Field after the Magic City Classic football game on Saturday. The game featured Alabama State and Alabama A&M, historic rivals with a century of competition. Approximately 70,000 fans attended the event, which Alabama A&M won 31-28.

Birmingham Police Chief Michael Pickett noted that the shooting happened near vendors on Graymont Avenue after most spectators had left. Police spokesperson De'Rell Freeman reported that one person was detained and multiple weapons were secured. Pickett expressed gratitude that more people were not hurt.

Other shootings occurred in university towns. In Newark, Delaware, six people were shot near the University of Delaware campus on Saturday night. All six were transported to hospitals, and police closed Main Street for several hours. A preliminary report in Fayetteville, Arkansas, linked a shooting to a fight, resulting in six people being hospitalized. A separate incident in Little Rock left one man dead and several others injured.

In Bloomington, Illinois, a 19-year-old woman died and another was in critical condition after a shooting near Illinois Wesleyan University on Sunday. Six others were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Bloomington is located about 135 miles southwest of Chicago.

Two people died in Spirit Halloween stores on Friday. In Fairfield, California, a 31-year-old pregnant woman was killed in a targeted attack inside a mall. Six others were injured. In Madison Heights, Michigan, a 21-year-old man was shot and killed. Another man was hospitalized after being struck by passersby while officers detained him.

University of Delaware officials said they would provide updates on the investigation online. The Bloomington police and the McLean County medical examiner's office released a joint statement regarding the victims' conditions.
