The Netherlands has committed €500 million in military aid to Ukraine, a sum Prime Minister Rob Jetten announced on October 28. The funding is specifically designated to strengthen the country's air defense capabilities. This announcement accompanied the launch of a joint defense industry initiative between the two nations.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that teams from both countries have begun work on a specific air defense project named Bliksem. He confirmed the start of these efforts in a post on X following a meeting with Jetten. The two leaders met with executives from companies operating in defense, energy, and software sectors.

Zelenskyy wrote, "Our teams have been tasked with working out a specific air defense project, Bliksem. We have already started this work." He described the cooperation as a move toward achieving "additional positive industrial, technological, and social results." No technical details regarding the Bliksem system were made public at the time of the announcement.

Beyond the military package, the Dutch government is allocating €1.2 billion in non-military assistance over the next three years. These funds are intended to support recovery and reconstruction efforts while expanding business opportunities for Dutch firms. The aid also includes a €10 million contribution to the Industrial Ramstein initiative.

During their discussions, Jetten and Zelenskyy identified key priorities for strengthening practical and economic ties. These areas include defense production, joint technology ventures, and energy projects. The leaders also pointed to satellite technologies and air defense as critical sectors for future collaboration.
