Powerball held its drawing for the $793 million top prize on Monday, with the cash option at $339.9 million. The winning combination for the November 2 draw is 64-66-7-23-29 with Powerplay 4x. The last time the $1,040 million jackpot was won was on August 12, when a ticket sold in Illinois took home the prize. The previous top prize winner was on May 2, when two lucky players in Florida and Texas split $20 million. Prior to that, two players from Indiana and Kansas were awarded $143.4 million on April 29. A player from Delaware won $230.8 million on April 6, and another player from Arkansas won $250.8 million on March 2. To play Powerball, participants must choose five numbers from 1 to 59 and a sixth number, the Powerball, from 1 to 26. Players can either choose their own numbers on a play slip or let the lottery machine randomly pick them. Winners can claim their prize by matching all five white balls in any order and the red Powerball. Winners of the top prize can choose to receive their winnings as an annuity, paid in 30 graduated payments over 29 years, or a lump sum. Both options are before federal and jurisdictional taxes. Each Powerball ticket costs $2 per play. An additional $1 can be paid to activate the Powerplay option, which multiplies the winnings by two, three, five, or ten. In Idaho and Montana, the Powerplay option is included with the Powerball for a minimum purchase price of $3 per play.
