John Kulewicz won the race for Ohio attorney general on Tuesday, according to unofficial results from the Ohio Secretary of State's website. The Upper Arlington city council member defeated incumbent Auditor Keith Faber with 100% of precincts reporting. Kulewicz, a lawyer, is serving his first term in state office.
Kulewicz announced the win via a Facebook post, stating that Faber called to offer a concession. He noted that while provisional and military ballots remain, he expects to begin his term in approximately 70 days. Faber confirmed the phone call in a statement on X, acknowledging that Kulewicz would be the next attorney general unless unusual patterns emerge in the uncounted overseas votes.
Democrats also secured victories in other executive races. Allison Russo, a former Ohio House member from Upper Arlington, defeated Robert Sprague for state treasurer. Sprague served as Ohio treasurer since 2019 and previously held a seat in the state legislature. Russo will replace Frank LaRose, who is leading in the race for state auditor against Democrat Annette Blackwell.
In the race for state treasurer, Seth Walsh of Cincinnati holds the lead. Walsh is a city council member challenging Jay Edwards, a former Ohio House representative from Nelsonville. The Associated Press has projected these results, though the agency has not yet called the attorney general race.
Voters also decided two seats on the Ohio Supreme Court. Incumbent Justice Jennifer Brunner, a Democrat, is leading Colleen O'Donnell. O'Donnell, the daughter of retired Justice Terrence O'Donnell, most recently served as a U.S. immigration judge in Texas. In the second contest, Democrat Marilyn Zayas is leading incumbent Justice Dan Hawkins, a Republican.
Zayas serves as a judge in Hamilton County’s First District Court of Appeals. The results reflect a broader Democratic performance in statewide elections, with the party also winning the governor’s office and a U.S. Senate seat. Final certifications for all races will follow the counting of outstanding ballots.
