Mexican authorities confirmed on November 2 that they are preparing to execute three federal arrest warrants against Ines Gomez Mont as soon as she is deported to Mexico. General Attorney Ernestina Godoy Ramos stated that the prosecutor's office will act immediately upon her arrival to present her to the justice system.
The process began in September 2025 when Mexico requested her provisional detention in the United States for extradition purposes. Mexican officials coordinated with the U.S. Department of Justice to file a formal petition. In recent weeks, both countries exchanged information and transferred the active arrest orders to their counterparts.
Gomez Mont was detained in Miami, Florida, on October 30 due to her immigration status. Godoy Ramos clarified that the arrest stems from her migratory situation in the United States. However, the Mexican government maintains that her legal troubles will resume the moment she crosses the border.
The three active warrants were issued by federal judges. One warrant cites her probable participation in organized crime and operations with resources of illicit origin. The other two warrants allege tax fraud. Godoy Ramos explained that investigations found Gomez Mont received illicit funds in her personal bank accounts. These funds were allegedly diverted and triangulated from the decentralized administrative body for prevention and social reintegration through shell companies.
The prosecutor also noted that Gomez Mont underreported her income during the 2014 and 2016 tax years. This omission resulted in unpaid taxes exceeding 13 million pesos, which equals more than 699,000 dollars. Godoy Ramos emphasized that the office has worked to bring her to justice since she left Mexico.
Gomez Mont's legal team challenged her immigration detention on November 2. They filed a habeas corpus petition in a federal court in Florida to review the legality of her arrest. The petition included an emergency request to prevent her transfer to another detention facility while the case is resolved.
Federal Judge Jeffrey Kuntz rejected the emergency measure. He ordered Immigration and Customs Enforcement to justify her detention by November 4. Gomez Mont is currently held at the Broward Transitional Center in Pompano Beach, Florida.
