TIME and data firm Statista have published the first edition of the Asia-Pacific's Best Employers 2027 ranking.
The list identifies the top 500 companies in the region based on employee feedback. The project aims to set a benchmark for workplace standards and encourage businesses to prioritize employee wellbeing, development, and inclusion.
The process began with a pool of more than 7,000 large and influential companies. To qualify, a company had to employ at least 1,000 people in the Asia-Pacific region and maintain operational sites in at least two of fifteen specific markets. These markets include Australia, China, India, Japan, Singapore, and South Korea. Headquarters location within the region was not a requirement.
Researchers collected data from over 80,000 full-time and part-time employees. The survey used online panels to ensure a representative sample. To keep the process neutral, companies did not select their own employees for the study. Instead, respondents were asked to name their current employer through an open-ended question with an auto-complete function.
The scoring model combines two types of evaluations. The direct score measures how willing employees are to recommend their current or previous employer to friends and family. This is rated on a scale from 0 to 10. The indirect score measures how employees perceive other companies in the same industry. Respondents could indicate whether they would recommend, would not recommend, or had no opinion on specific peers. They could also name other employers they would recommend.
Greater weight was placed on the direct score because it reflects current employee satisfaction more strongly. Data from 2024, 2025, and 2026 were combined to calculate a final score for each company. The maximum achievable score is 100. The top 500 companies received the title of Asia-Pacific's Best Employers 2027.
The final list serves as a guide for job seekers and industry stakeholders. It reflects both how employees view their own workplaces and how those companies are perceived across their sectors.
